I Made This...

First craft posted: CHECK.

What? You can't really tell what it is?  Well that's because I took a really shitty picture this morning while running out the door to work and this is what you get!

What is it you ask?  Well good question.  I always feel an explanation should start at the beginning...it's a postcard frame. Then End.

How did I make it?  An eight foot long piece of 1x2 (primed) cut into two 18" pieces and two 30" pieces.  Attached the pieces to make a frame, then ordered some lovely baker's twine from TwineAndTape on www.Etsy.com and stapled that bad boy all over the back.  I didn't really make any sort of pattern, just stapled where I thought it would work well.

I also bought a couple packages of natural wood mini clothespins like these I found on Newegg.  I only needed one package, but I'm sure I can find something to use the other 25 on.  Anyway, I used Rit Dye in Navy to color the pins a nice dark blue and wallah, you have a nice, inexpensive card frame for all of those holiday cards.

I plan on mounting it to the wall tonight using Velcro Command Strips; perhaps I'll post an update with a better view.

*Side note*

Is it tacky if I want to put our own Christmas card up?  I just love it so much :)

Congratulations...

Since almost everyone else I know is getting married or having babies and I'm over here all like "I fixed my toilet this weekend," I thought I would put pen to paper (or perhaps finger to key in this instance?) and document my adventures in life at twenty seven.  And just so we all start out on the right foot: I'm not exactly 27, I'm a bit premature in that title, but it's in only a few months and I've been really crafty lately, so just let me have my moment, damnit.

Anyway, in lieu of planning my non-existent Pinterest wedding (it WILL happen someday [or so I keep telling myself]) or designing my future probably-not-gonna-happen baby's nursery, I bring to the masses my DIY prowess and clever wit...but mostly my clever wit...and a good amount of posts about things I find funny, like this greeting card...which if someday I make a human with my genitals someone better buy me this friggin card! Or at least make me one; I will forever love you :)
